This is kinda fun I suppose, elgooG

Yes!

It was an exciting and very busy weekend which I extended to Monday by taking the day off and surprising Aileen with breakfast in bed and an engagement ring. The nervousness I felt all week was eased when she happily accpted. We celebrated the only way we know by going skiing /snowboarding!

Aileen masters the WRX!

Aileen and I have been taking the Car out for the last week or so. I’ve had her behind the wheel learning to drive the Standard Transmission. On Tuesday she was finally comfortable driving on to somwhat busy streets. (She got us to Taco Bell flawlessly) Yesterday she asked to drive me to my Little Market research Gig I had. This was cool cause the drive involved a freeway. That’s the whole idea behind the expedited lessons. Next week we leave for Ohio and I was hoping for some driving assistance. Anyway, she nailed the drive last night. There were no jerky transitions and I felt very comfortable in the drivers seat. Of course she loves driving the car so that helps too. Now that I know the drive will at least be cut in a third I’m even more excited for next week!

Looks Like it Has Potential

I didn’t know exactly how to react when I heard that Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory was being remade I felt a tad more at ease when Tim Burton was set to Direct it though skeptical, especially after his trashing of Planet of the Apes. I remember the first thing that came to my mind was that Johnny Depp is going to have to be Willy Wonka and with Burton directiing it only made sense.
Johnny Depp Never Looked so Purple
Sure enough that was the plan and today I got my first look at a preview of it. Honestly, Not totally what I had expected but it looks like it should be pretty good.

Bluahh

Looks like I had the flu for the last day and a half. Ended up leaving work on Wednesday afternoon, and stayed home all day Thursday and I pretty much did nothing. Aileen was home during the afternoon so we played some videogames and some how she dragged me out to the store, which was a bad idea cause I felt like crap. shortly there after I started feeling better and around 7pm I finally had a hint of an appetite and made some french bread pizza. Feeling much better today though not a hundred percent. I should have enough energy to go xmas shopping tonight. WHat an exciting Friday Huh?

Two Weeks and Stuff

Only a few weeks till we head back for xmas. I can’t wait. Not sure if I am excited about the drive, but it should be allright. Aileen isn’t as used to long road trips as I am so she’s sorta dreading it. I think because the move out here was so tough, having the truck and all. That was quite a haul. On top of that Miss P doesn’t like the car much either. Theres a bit more room in mine so hopefully she’ll be better. All I can say is we’ll see. Skied this week with a buddy from work. It was Blast. Him and i went at pretty much the same pace. It was nice for a change. I killed my skis thoughl. (early season rocks) luckily it’s my old pair. I’m gonna attempt repairs with P-tex this week! Hopefully.

Market Research

A few weeks back I signed up to take part in market research if and when they are looking for my demographic. Every now and then I get a call from the people at Ingather asking me a few questions to see if I qualify for their current project. As is the case most of the time I am not what they are looking for. In the past they were looking for Heavy Beer drinkers and frequent fast food customers. The phone call usually ends with an “I’m sorry you did not qualify for this one but we’ll keep you in our database…” Finally a few weeks ago I barely qualified for a project dealing with the Internet. According to the woman on the phone I almost over qualified. Anyway, this was a two parter. In total we are to recieve $135 for particpating(obviously why people do these things.) The first part took place last night. And by the looks of us it seemed a pretty diverse collection of participants. You could almost tell the regulars, who probably along with selling plasma try to make a living at these things. I thought it quite humorous. There were about 30 of us that they brought into a fairly large classroom like auditorium. Were instructed to take a seat with a computer in front of us. For the next 90 min Some guy who was a Trainer with the company doing the research took us through two products. The first was called Pluck It was basically a tool that ran in your browser to help manage and utilize boomarks and RSS feeds. The second was called A9 owned by Amazon it is a new search engine / bookmark manager. We were able to try out these tools and practice using them a bit. At the end of the little training session we were instructed to use these as intensly as we can for the next two weeks. We have a scheduled day to return where we will take part in a focus group to discuss these tools. At the conclusion last night they handed us each an envelope with 60 bucks cash for attending. After the second session we will recieve another payment for 75 bucks. Some of the easiest money I’ve made! My guess is that Google was behind the research and using us to research more ways to take over the world ;)
