The Highlight? My Computer Exploded. Well It really just stopped working but exploding sounds better. Think I cooked the memory sockets. Had to throw down some bones to buy a new computer this morning, and really, I was due, something i just kept putting off. Kind of excited, comes with a free 19″ flat panel. Though right now is not a good money month with a big tax bill and two more flights I need to get for weddings. Oh well. On A good note Aileen Bought an Ipod Mini 4gb. We had to run out and get her a usb2.0 card, I was gonna set that up tonight but apparently shes taking care of that right now.

Dirty Desk and CSS

March 23rd, 2005 by The Knighthawk | Comments Off | Filed in base, task

I swear every morning I come into work My desk is totally run up with papers, pens, books, magazines and other crap, and every morning I pretty much clean it all up. Is my work day that much of a Hurricane? I don’t think so, it’s more of the zone i get myself into sometimes and ignore everything around me. Plus any one who knows me, knows my obsession with sticky notes. Anyway,

I’ve jumped into this project here at work that I am quite excited about. We took on a task to design and develop a website for a conference coming to town in a few days. Cool thing is we were given pretty much freedom to do whatever we want. One thing we decided, was to build the whole thing using style sheets (CSS) The main advantage for this on the user end I think is accessability. With no tables or heavy images, style sheets makes it easy for all browsers screen readers etc to view the important content from a web site. On the administrator end, If you attach one sheet to all your pages you then only have to change the attributes to your sheet and it effects all of your pages. No more Changing each Page one by one. You then might ask “well you can do that in Dreamweaver with templates” good point. Im certainly no css expert but am learning. that was one reson to do the site using css, to learn it better. One thing I do know is that ie and other browsers each look at style sheets a bit different so there is some discreprencies(sp?) At this point i’m still not 100% convinced that style sheets are the it, but I think its the way to go and there are thousands that stand behind it and i assume as i become more fluent i too will see the light. We’ll just have to wait and see

Second Life I still don’t know what to say about this yet. Reminded me of Active worlds, But there seems to be far more interactivity.

Mad Ness?

Most who know me, know that I am far from a big basketball fan. Only in recent years have I been somwhat keeping an eye as to whats going on in the world. This is mainly due to the fact that My last few years at Kent, The team was actually doing pretty good, I think it was ’00 they made it to the elite 8… And then two Years ago I lived in the City Bordering Akron and that was where Lebron was playing high school ball. SO needless to say I was surrounded by it. Anyway, A co worker came up and asked me if I wanted to be in his little March Madness pool he was doing. Normally I look at these things and pretty much shake my head no immediatly. But he explained the idea be hind this pool and it actually sounded kinda fun. In a nut shell there are eight players and each player takes part in a draft to pick thier teams. As their teams advance they earn points and the higher the seed the more points they earn. So you don’t even need to have the champion to win the pool. Kinda fun, It gives you 8 teams to watch etc etc. Plus we all hung out last night at Old Chicogo and had the Draft. If anything it was a chance to go out with the guys etc. It was a fun night we even played some Foosball. Unfortunatly I don’t think i did well in the draft I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. I wad really hoping to Syracuse in my first pick but have the 6th overall pick that didnt happen. Here are my teams and their seeds: Oklahoma State 2 – Kansas 3 – Utah 6 – Mississippi st 9 – G. Washington 12 – Ohio 13 (had to pick the mac champ) – Bucknell 14 – Niagara 14 (home town represent!)

Cold

I don’t know how in a matter of hours it could go from sunny and low 60′s to cold and 3inches of snow on the ground but thats what happened Saturday from 5 – 11pm. That pretty much been the weather story here in The Mile High City. No wonder why I’ve been so sick this year. Let’s just hope it warms up the rest of the week.

Good morning all. Well, it’s going to be another unseasonably warm day just east of the Rockies here in Denver. Quite depressing to myself the skier and all the other skiers and snowboarders in the area. I guess Feb was the second driest since it’s recorded history. Despite all that I still had one of the best days skiing in my life last week.

Anyways… Many of you have read my recent posts and have been inquiring about this “big things to come” that I mentioned a few days back. I dunno if it wasn’t obvious but due to my recent obsession with this whole podcasting phenomenon, I’ve decided to produce one of my own. It really is an invalid statement saying “of my own” for I have several friends on board for this project, but I am sort of at the helm of this one and it has certainly kept me quite busy.
First off if you are reading this and wondering what exactly a podcast is I have plenty of posts in the “podcasting” catagory with explanations.
We recorded “live to drive” our first podcast last night. It had its ups and downs, but thats good so now we can learn from that and only make it better. I should have it available along with the site hopfully tonight so stay tuned.

Thats all for now.
