And it Begins.

The now Google owned YouTube recently deleted 30,000 files after a Japanese company complained of copyright violations. Soon, all copyrighted material will be gone from YouTube and all we’ll see up there is lame homeade videos and anything that has been paid to be put up there such as Universal authorizing the release of thier latest movie trailers onto YouTube.

Macrdobia Magic!

Is Adobe out to kill me? First Macromedia, now Serious Magic! Well I guess all I can hope for is integration of ultra (that sweet green screen app we have) into premiere. Who knows what will happen to visual communicator.

Admiral RockBar

We hit up a pretty cool place this past weekend that recently opened up. The following quote came from a 5280 article that summed it up as well as I have. I think it will also explain my likeing of the establishment.

“The real beauty of the Rockbar is that virtually everything, from the carpet to the ceiling, is original. It closed on December 31, 1979, and nothing has changed since. Once they removed the piles of junk that had been stored inside (Morreale bought the motel last year) all the funky old details emerged, giving it the sort of authenticity that you can’t replicate. Imagine, if you are child of the 70s and 80s like myself, your parents’ old basement rec room crossed with the Regal Beagle bar from Three’s Company, and you’ll have an idea of what awaits you inside. This place has mirrored walls, and even mirrored ceilings behind the bar. Silver foil wallpaper with orange and gold arches line the lounge area, heavy iron lanterns with rippled gold glass illuminate the dance floor, and orange hurricane lamps complete with white plastic netting brighten up the dark wood laminated cocktail tables. And get this - they even have a small video arcade with retro games like Donkey Kong and Ms. Pacman.”

And it is that cool. For all you trashy drinkers out there. All the beer is served in cans including: Colt 45, Olympia, PBR, Schlitts, Labatt Blue, Amstel Light and Newcastle. Plus, Shots of MadDog for 1 buck all day. Lol

$1.65 billion

Jeez! I think we all know what I am refering to. If not, that obsurd monatary amount in the title refers to the price Google paid to aquire YouTube this week. After paying off the VC funders each founder is going to receive something like $200 million. Gawd I wish I was part of that team. Well despite the large amount it does make some sense. Even though they had teamed up with Myspace for an ad program Google had yet to have a true social Network. They offered Friendster a bunch of money some time back but the now failing social network quickly declined (and is now probably kicking themselves) Also, Google Video just wasn’t up to par with YouTube and what do large companies do when their competition is defeating them? They buy them! It will be interesting to see what happens with this property. It is known that there is alot of copyrighted content that has been illegally posted to YouTube. No legal action had been taken because it was clear that YouTube was not making any money and really didnt have any. Companies have been waiting for YouTube to be purchased so that they could sue someone with Money. Will that content come down? We’ll have to wait and see.
In other Google News. The recently aquired Writely is offically no longer called Writely and has been paired with Google spreadsheets to be called Google Docs & Spreadsheets.

I know I know

Well I’m not sure how much longer I can use the busy excuse but, yes I’ve been busy so I apologize to all 0-3 of you that may read this. It hasn’t helped that Performancing for FireFox stopped working on this machine… I will need to look into that. Alot of things have been cooking that past few weeks a big one being the Podcast & Portable Media Expo that took place this past weekend in dreary Ontario California. Luckily the Expo was not nearly as depressing as the town it was being held in. In fact it was a very overwhelming experience. We had a booth this year and that proved very successful along with our hostpitality suites we hosted in the evenings. The response to Blubrry, Podcasternews and the RawVoice Generator were great. Unfortunatly it means one thing. I will continue to be busy beyond all relief. But that’s Good! Check out Pics of us hard at work last weekend here
