I’m Shocked Adobe but Thank You!

Adobe announced their line of CS3 products yesterday and I must admit I’m a bit shocked. As usual all the names changed etc etc but most importantly Fireworks is still alive! Not only is it alive, they added improvements and made it part of a CS3 bundle. Does that mean it will be staying? It looks that way at least for the time being. As much as I hate Adobe their pricing structures and their software, I had no choice but to concede when they bought Macromedia. I have been counting down the days till Adobe finally kills Fireworks, but it looks like there might be some life left. Maybe Adobe has realized that Fireworks has a few on Photoshop and Illustrator ;)

I’m Getting Better!

Now that Death Flu ‘07 is over I can finally get back on track. Something nasty had been going around and it got the worst of me last week. I did manage to get some 8+ hours in on the orginal Legend of Zelda which I had downloaded onto my Wii. Anyway, almost a full week later and I am finally on the road to recovery. Not quite 100% yet but I’m feeling a lot better than I was last Thursday. Saturday was the first day I felt somewhat mobile and was able to do some shopping with Aileen and find ourselves an outdoor table for the Backyard. We got an umbrella for it as well but still haven’t gotten chairs yet. I gave in after 3 years and picked up a pair of Crocs. 30 bucks always seemed steep for a pair of rubber shoes but with my REI dividend they were only 14 bucks, I figured they were worth that. Now I know why people wear these stupid things.

The planets must have been aligned Sat night because after talking to My friend on the phone and deciding we wanted Steak, Aileen agreed to go with us to a steakhouse. Crossing another “places to go to while in Denver” off our list we hit the Traildust Steakhouse. Certainly a Casa Bonita for Cowboys. Much better food too ;)

Sunday I hit up the Vintage Voltage Expo with some friends and somehow managed not to spend a dime there. We had brunch at some Crazy suburban Italian Marketplace type buffet. The rest of the afternoon was spent doing yardwork… yay.

Midweek Sickness

Well, I’ve managed to make it about 2 weeks without catching this mad cold/flu thing that has been going around. But it hit me hard yesterday. Woke up with a minor sore throat and then it progressed as did the day. By noon my skin had become real sensitive, muscles sore and the chills were kicking in. Bought a tube of Airborne, drank some Emergen-C hoping that I could make it through the day. Unfortunately when I got home I had a ton of work to do and it wasn’t until after 10pm I could finally think about going to bed. After a good nights sleep, here I am back at work. My body is filled with Dayquill, tea, and fruit juices. I feel a little better, the soreness and skin sensitivity has subsided but the throat feels much worse and the coughing has increased. I have managed to catch quite a few colds and what not in the past few years so if this is the only one I get this season, I will not complain. I knew this one was going to be hard to avoid at least it waited until the Duke left.

So my buddy was telling me about a wedding he attended over the weekend. Two antennas got married and according to my friend the wedding was really kinda boring but the reception was great!

Scum Sucking Leaches

It seems that greedy greedy RIAA will suck the life out of anything on the web that is music related. They have successfully lobbied the U.S. Copyright Royalty Board to raise the cost to stream copyrighted music. What does that mean to the user? Well, if you listen to say Yahoo music or some other web radio station. It will no longer be free, you will hear more commercials or if you are paying for a service, the subscription fee will increase. All for the money Hungry RIAA who takes most of these earnings for themselves leaving the artist with the same pennies per song they have been earning all along. LAME!

Finalii

Got to a best buy at 10:10 am on Sunday and apparently it was 10 hours too late. (that’s when people started lining up) They only had 9 so they sold out as soon as it opened on Sunday. My brother in Salt Lake had a tip that a Toys’R'Us by him was getting 30 - 40. He was on his way there to try to pick on up for himself and I figured since there was a Toys’R'US down the road from where I was I’d check it out. besides it didn’t open till 11am. I got there and it was a ghost town. Two cars in the lot with people in them and three kids skateboarding near the entrance which made me curious. Aileen and I decided to run into the PetCo next door and see what the deal was when we got back. As soon as we were walking back (around 10:30) we saw three people in three separate cars all get up and line up. I figured I’d better get in line. Luckily I did. they had 15 units and I was number 6. Wohoo! Turns out there were 48 at the store in Salt Lake.
