Finally Friday
Going into it, I knew this week was going to be a rough one. I had a bunch of stuff planned at work back to back followed by fairly eventful evenings each day. The unpredictable Wet Tuesday and the incidents that followed didn’t make it any better. Needless to say the end of the work week is finally in view. I have the Research and Creative Activities Symposium to shoot this afternoon and then only a warm and sunny weekend to look forward to. Finally Friday!

Wet Tuesday
q. What happens when a maintinence crew at your building working on the “chillers” on the roof forget to unplug a valve?
a. You get thousands of gallons of water rushing into your building from the ceiling.
Now I’m sitting in my 90 degree office crammed with blowers and dehumidifiers. Oh and it stinks like building rot!

Possibly my Next MP3 Player
I can’t believe it took this long but someone may have finally gotten it right. SanDisk is partnering up with yahoo music and producing an mp3 player with Wifi that does what it’s suppose to do. If you have a Y! Unlimited account (which I do) and open wifi network you will be able to connect to Y! Music download songs and listen to the Launchcast streaming radio stations. This is an extremely exciting announcement. Unfortunatly 250.00 (4gb model) is a bit high for me so I will have to wait a bit until I get one of these things but, I think I have found my next MP3 Player. I have two questions. based on the EMI decision to offer drm free music if and when Yahoo offers drm free EMI stuff will this device download it? Also will you be able to download podcasts on this thing? If so this device will be paving the road for what Apple, Microsoft and others should do. Hmm I bet the iphone will be able to do all this too. I hope so the more the better. [link to story] [link to Sandisk Sansa Connect]

I Hate Taxes!
I really only say that when I owe of course. This year was particularly harsh but hey what can you do. It’s not cheap to live in this country. I’ve heard taxes are much better when you own a house, get married and have kids. Well the house part is done, the married thing, we just need to pick a date and do it and the kids part……. Oh well. Too much stuff going on to worry about taxes. I’m having dinner with a good friend from college tonight and then most of the weekend will be spent getting the house ready for my parents who will be out visiting next Wed - Sat. I was hoping to buy an outdoor gas grill for the yard but after this lame tax setback I may have to hold out a bit longer
We’ll see.

Stapleton
So I was playing around on Google Maps and checking out the area that used to be the old Stapleton Airport. Since the opening of the famed Denver International Airport the old airport has since been leveled and has been renames the ever so original Stapleton. Anyway It is obvious that Google hasn’t updated their images for this area. You can see the Airport has been wiped out and redevelopment has begun. The cool thing is that most of the runway is still visible. Now for someone who has only been in the Denver area for a little over 3 years, It is hard to visualize this area with an Airport. So looking at these images are pretty interesting. The only remnants are one of the air control Towers, a parking ramp, some totally out of place 70’s era hotels and the United Airlines training facility.
