Finally!

I joined a friend last night who had an extra ticket to the AVS preseason game vs The Detroit Redwings. It was great to finally see the players back on the ice. On top of that it was an awesome game for the home fans, who I’ve learned real quick absolutely hate the Redwings. Down 1-0 at the end of the first They rallied to win it 2-1. Concluded teh game was a preview of the “shootout” which will now occur after a 5 min overtime if the game is still a tie. I must admit It was quite exciting and almost felt staged. Each team had three chances and by the time it got to the AVS last chance neither team had scored and it was up to hometeam hero Joe Sakic. Sure enough in elegant fashion he beat the detroit goaile on his right sight to capture the shootout victory.

It was a great time and I can’t wait to hit up a bunch more games, especially Dec 7 vs Bufffalo and I will not be rooting for the home team that night. ;)

Back on Track … Sorta

Well I think I am finally getting over one of the weirdest colds I have had in a long time. I was able to sleep last night with out taking Nyquill or any other cold remedy. That is unless you count Breyers Reese Peanut Butter Cup Ice Cream a cold remedy.

I am pretty excited to try out my new garder belt tonight. Sorry I had to say that, I know anyone with little to no hockey knowledge would probably have no idea what I’m talking about or just assume I’m weird, which i’m sure most of you already think. Anyway… Playoffs for us start tonight. We play the Stingers! Our previous meeting was the last game of the season and we came out on top 8-2 or something like that. But This is the playoffs and you can’t take anyone lately!

NHL unveils new logo

New Logo New NHL Logo Old Logo Old NHL Logo

That’s Right theNHL unveiled a new logo The changes are very moderate but I like it. I did Like The orange but rationalizing the silver to resemble the stanley cup is good enough for me. Oh and they realeased the ‘05-’06 schedule. I gotta figure out when the sabres come to town.

New Rules For NHL ‘05 - ‘06

# Goalies will be limited in the size of equipment they can wear. Pads, gloves and blockers cannot exceed a specified length or width.

# The elimination of the two-line pass, like international hockey.

# A new overtime format featuring a shootout if the game is still tied after four-on-four hockey for five minutes and three-on-three hockey for another three.

# Goal lines will be moved back two feet and blue-lines will be two feet wider, creating a bigger offensive zone.

# Touch icing, which has caused many injuries to NHL defencemen over the years, is eliminated. Players only have to cross the icing line with his skate or stick to win the race for the puck.

# The old tag-up offside rule is back. Players can leave the offensive zone to nullify a delayed offside call. Before, the play was instantly called dead.

# Stricter fines for diving and criticizing officials. A delay-of-game penalty will be called on any player who shoots the puck into the stands from his defensive zone.

# A zero tolerance approach to obstruction and interference

Hocktober here we come!

Finally! Looks like a few things still have have to beworked out but at least they have made it public that they have agreed on terms

Doh! this article says the NHL and Players assoc are denying the reports that an agreement have been made. Talking about more bad publicity.

Up For Air

Well the last week or so especially at work has kept me pretty busy. We had some fairly tight deadlines we were dealing with and of course the flu that attacked me didn’t make things any better. I think my body is still getting used to the climate here in Denver and I may be the first to complain about the Sun here. To me its almost too much. I like they grey dark days and we’re lucky to see a few here. I’ve noticed on those days I’m in some of my better moods. Anyway I feel like I have fallen behind on so many things not just work oriented but keeping up on news info etc. The worst being that we are guarenteed no hockey this year though I think we all kinda knew, it was just that ounce of hope that was getting in the way. I guess the real big news on my end is the hair cut. Its actually been driving me a little crazy as of late. Being as short as it is I don’t know what to do with it. And when I wake up in the morning its all sticking up in the back, My dad used to call it rooster hair. The only style I like is when I comb it back and to the side, very old school, any thing else at this point is a mess. As soon as I get a decent pic Ill post it.

Last Bit of Hope

I was dreading opening up my browser this morning which is set to go to myYahoo to read of the anticipated cancellation of the 04/05 NHL season. When I scrolled through my set headlines to the “NHL Hockey news” section no such headline was posted. Instead were storys saying there is a bit of hope. So, all you Hockey fans cross your fingers. It looks like they have till the end of the weekend to figure this or time will have run out to start and finish a season. Let’s just hope both sides stop being idiots and the remember their Fans and the future of the sport is on the line here!
